Avril Lavigne Road To Stardom!

It seems to be everyone dreams to be able to grown up to be a successful singer although not everyone have the talents to become singers. However for Avril Lavigne, a Canadian singer and songwriter and are famous for her ‘goth’ and ‘punk’ character, it is a dream come true. To date she has already published two successful albums. Both her albums not only ranked high on the music charts around the world, but have also yielded various very popular singles in the category of ‘pop’ music.

Avril was born on September 27th, 1984 to parents John and Judy Lavigne in the city of Belleville, a city located at the mouth of the Moira River on the Bay of Quinte in southeastern Ontario, Canada. She spent most her childhood growing up in Napanee and early on took on a special interest to singing and music. She sang in a church singing group, and taught herself to play guitar. Her first interest was to involved in country music, and she was first noticed by a management organization while singing a country cover at a bookstore in Kingston, Ontario. From there, she was invited to sing at a New York City studio, where she was overheard by Anotonio ‘LA’ Reid, an agent of Arista Records.

At just sixteen years old, she signed on with Arista Records and began working on her first album. After shifting to LA and recruiting the help of the songwriting team ‘The Matrix’ to co-write her album, the album itself was then successfully released in June of 2002. The album quickly climb up to the top of the charts in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom while it sits at the number two spot in the United States. It has sold over four million copies within the first six months of its releases, and over 15 million copies worldwide within the first year and a half. Unbelievably, her first album is a huge hit!

Her Canadian origins and rough, cynical image has led many in the media to compare her to fellow Canadian performer Alanis Morisette. She won the title ‘Best New Artist’ at the MTV Music Awards in the year of 2002 and continue to won four Juno Awards, a World Music Award, and was nominated for eight Grammys.

After her first successful album, Avril Lavigne continued up her debut album with ‘Under My Skin’ in May of 2004. The album has also hit the number one position on charts across the world, including the United States. Avril was described to have had more artistic control in her sophomore album, and that she was able to express herself more freely. The music undoubtedly has a matured quality to it, showing her progress since her sudden exposure to spectators around the world.

Since another successful hit in her second album, there were rumors circulating around about a third album which are to be published in 2006. However, there are some reports that said that Avril is thinking of taking some time out to enjoy her life first.

Whether her music is the one you would enjoy listening or not, there is no doubt that Avril Lavigne is a very talented young rock/pop artist in the rising and the one that is meant to make an impact on pop performers in the future.
